The ones that I use the most

• Arturia DX7 V
• ROLI’s Cypher 2 (one of my favs), Strobe and Equator.
• XLN RC-20 Retro Color. I got this one through Splice’s fantastic rent-to-own.
• Valhalla VintageVerb, Supermassive, and FreqEcho.
• Native Instruments Guitar Rig 5 and Raum.

The ones that I don’t use that often (but are also great).

• Dexed: free, OSS
• Arturia’s CS80 v3 and Jup-8 v3.
• PG-8X (Roland JX-8P emulator): free, OSS
• Kontakt
• Reaktor 6
• Synth1: free
• VCV Rack

Other

• Software - Ableton Live 10 (Suite).
• Hardware
  • Focusrite Scarlett Solo or 2i2. If you use external hardware synths, consider buying the 4i4 as it has midi.
  • NI Komplete Kontrol S49 MK2 or NI A49.
  • For a portable option, I would go with an A25 or an Arturia Keystep. One thing I like about the latest is that it has aftertouch, something that my A49 doesn’t have.
  • Ableton Push 2
  • Yamaha HS7 studio monitors.
